Teeth whitening

Teeth whitening or bleaching has become a part of our everyday life. A seductive white smile is the desire and need of every person nowadays. Many causes lead to the need to whiten some or all teeth, and the Dental Practice Cvjetković offers a solution for each of these cases.

Teeth whitening is a procedure that belongs to the domain of aesthetic dentistry. It involves removing various discolorations and stains from the tooth surface, while the tooth color itself becomes lighter. Teeth whitening is one of the most popular procedures in dentistry because it can significantly improve the appearance of teeth, without much inconvenience and without high costs.

Before starting the whitening process, it is necessary to determine the color of the patient’s teeth, as well as the condition of the teeth and gums. Bleaching produces up to 8 shades of lighter teeth.

With today’s techniques and modern materials, teeth whitening has become an effective way to remove tooth discoloration. Before you start the treatment of teeth whitening, it is necessary to consult with our dental experts, in order to achieve safe and effective results, and avoid unwanted consequences.

At the moment, you can find a large offer of teeth whitening on the market by non-experts. However, only experienced dentists like ours can indicate which whitening technique is best for each patient. You can whiten only one tooth (dark or so-called “dead”) or all teeth. Our office offers two types of teeth whitening: home and office whitening (lamp).

For patients who regularly maintain oral hygiene, teeth whitening has a long-lasting effect.

Home teeth whitening

Bleaching at home using the individual splint method is a very effective way to achieve a beautiful and bright smile. The patient himself applies the whitening gel to the appropriate splint, which is made for him by our dentists, puts the splint on his teeth and wears it overnight. The treatment lasts from 8 to 10 nights. The time required for maximum teeth whitening depends on how dark the teeth are, that is, how much the teeth are saturated with dark pigments. At the patient’s request, such splints do not have to be worn all night. Depending on the material used for teeth whitening, it can be worn for about 30 minutes a day.

What are the activities before home teeth whitening?

Home whitening involves taking an impression of the patient’s teeth and making individual foils in which the whitening gel is placed.

Office whitening with a lamp

Teeth whitening with a lamp is a completely safe and relatively painless procedure that gives immediate results. After laser teeth whitening, you will not be able to hide your pleasure because of the new smile! The system is based on the application of hydrogen peroxide in a gel, which is applied to the teeth. A special UV lamp, which does not heat or damage the teeth, has the role of speeding up the teeth whitening process.

Before the treatment, the current color of the patient’s teeth is determined, then the patient’s gums are protected with a special gel, and finally the gel is applied to the teeth that need to be whitened. After 30-45 minutes of lamp treatment, the teeth become 2 to 4 shades lighter, which depends on many individual factors. The durability of teeth whitening is completely individual and depends on several factors.

After office teeth whitening, there is a possibility that the teeth will be more sensitive than before to too cold, warm, sweet and sour, because all dentinal canals are open and significantly more passable for registering irritation from the oral cavity. We recommend that you minimize such irritations a few days after bleaching, and later, in order to maintain the achieved bleaching effect for as long as possible, reduce the intake of dark-colored food and drinks and smoking.

Teeth whitening with a lamp or laser teeth whitening is about 40% more efficient than whitening at home, and the duration of treatment is significantly shorter. Teeth whitening in the Cvjetković Dental Practice involves the application of whitening gel to the tooth surface, while protecting the surrounding soft tissues.

By directing specific light sources or laser light to the tooth surfaces, the whitening process is activated and at the same time shortened to only 30-60 minutes. Depending on the nature of the discoloration, the patient’s teeth may become lighter by 2-4 shades.
